Looking for some inspiration to update an old sideboard or buffet? These makeover ideas showcase the best transformations, from beautifully painted finishes to classic wood refinishing projects. Whether you love bold colors, vintage wood, or modern touches, these before-and-after pieces will spark ideas for your own furniture makeover!
Let’s get the list started:
1. Antique Tiger Oak Sideboard Restoration
If you’re after a truly dramatic transformation, this sideboard delivers. Once left outside, it was covered in mildew and buried under layers of stubborn white paint. The careful process of scraping, sanding, and stripping it down shows just how much work went into reviving this piece. This piece was finished by myself Furniture Flippa – Projects by Jamie. You can watch the full restoration on YouTube here!
2. Stunning Art Deco Buffet

Probably one of my favorite buffet projects I have ever watched! This buffet was refinished by Angie the owner of Transcend Furniture Gallery. If you have an art deco buffet or sideboard, take Angie’s advice and do this to make that burl veneer shine! With a touch of black paint, it’s perfect.

This piece was refinished by Holly from Hollys Garage. This buffet is honestly stunning, the washed top mixed with the painted bottom is such a perfect blend. If you have a buffet this is a great idea to modernize it!
6. Paint + Stained Vintage Sideboard
Here is a vintage sideboard that I painted black with Fusion Mineral Paint and stained it with gel stain. The mixed wood and black look turned out very nice and it sold rather quickly!
